it's white, uneducated, and male

As the casualties mount in the historic War On Women, we are humbled by the heroism and the sacrifice of our warriors, male and female, as they pointlessly argue over which political party - and that party's presidential candidate - hates women more. It's so hard to tell. On the one hand, Barack Hussein Obama, raised by his white mother and her family because his father was, while brilliant, a caveman when it came to being a husband or parenting. That can be attributed to Barack senior being an actual African, but the sad fact is too many African American males are even worse in their social climbing attempts to be mistaken for white men, no better in their brotherly disdain for women, at least when women are able to compete on a level playing field. Contestant Obama has praised his mother and white grandparents profusely from day one of his public life of high accomplishment, married a black woman of high accomplishment herself, has two daughters already socially and academically advanced, and imported his wife's mother to the White House to lend family tone top to bottom. He had student loans and worked his whole adult life, as did his wife. So, the Democrats. On the other hand, Republican Willard Mitt Romney, son of wealthy parents and whose father was Governor of Michigan and head of American Motors when that corporate giant made money. His mother, Lenore, was also a politician and like Willard's wife Anne, came from deeper and wealthier Mormon roots than the Romneys. By any standards, the Romney wives are smart, competent, and, as important in politics, fun and funny, far more likeable than their husbands. We will all remember where we were and what we were doing when the War on Women broke out. After some skirmishing about birth control and a woman's role for some decades, blood was let when Obama advisor Hilary Rosen said that Anne Romney had never worked a day in her life and wouldn't have a thing in common with the average American female. Republicans danced with joy because they are, on average, far older and out of it than the younger and more concerned Democrats. They cherish a belief that their images of women and, well, the world in general, is shared with the majority of Americans, whom they believe to be white, compassionately bigoted, and publicly Christian like they are. Depending what you call white, that may not be true much longer, and may not be true at all today. But they like the idea of Anne Romney dropping foal five times and choose to imagine her doing the laundry after a morning in obstetrics, and ironing after dinner. Being a mother is hard work, true, but Anne Romney never had to worry about money, had domestic help available, the right doctors and the right support and schools for the kids. The Obamas, not so much, no. Rosen could have been more precise and said Romney never HAD to work a day in her life, like most people, and never worked outside the home. Many women have to do both. Women compose over half the American work force, today. They are better educated, hard working, ambitious, and as competent in many fields as the men they have replaced. But these women still do not, on average, earn the same money for the same job as men receive. Oddly, they don't like that. It may be that most working women would love to be married and stay at home with five kids and housekeep if they had Romney level money, but they know better. They know Anne Romney was born and married rich. The young are aware of population issues having effects in their lifetime no previous generation had. They accept global warming as part of that. They know, because they can't get the jobs they wanted or studied for, that there is a basic incoherence in our economic and educational projections and beliefs, which border on fantasy. Men suspect that women won't need them for anything more than sex pretty soon, an almost complete reversal of gender roles in less than fifty years. Maybe not even sex. So, in defense, they side with those who'd keep them on top, so to speak. The nation and species needs brains and competence more than ever, and its both annoying and embarrassing that men in general are on the wrong side of history, this ridiculous war, and the coming election, where Romney's sole selling point is he's rich, he's white, and a guy. The thing is, most Americans, even most working Americans, are not.
