I would contact POSRP. Go to their web site at www.posrp.org. There are a number of land owners in Colorado that are defending thier private property rights from R.S. 2477. If you are in Colorado you can probably get an experienced attorney that has been involved in one of those lawsuits. As far as I know, the landowners have won all of them. The Barking Dog case was dismissed last winter for example, and the Teller County case never went to trial (the owner called the county's bluff). There's another case in Moab, Utah but I don't know the status. I do know of another Utah case where the land owner won, so you might shop in Utah for a lawyer. Also a NM case but that one involved the BLM. Off-roaders lost that one too. Some off-road group from southern NM tried to claim a 2477 road. I'm really starting to think that R. S. 2477 is not the threat it's made out to be. |

| I am the southern nm case spoken of. The rs2477 was defeated but we are currently under attack now for other things, you see now that the rs2477 is defeated the neighbors have decided that we need to be gone and they have used the local sheriffs office to help. We are both in court now for defending our rights and we have filed federal charges against the local authorities. We have also invloved the state authorities and other agencies to fight back. I believe this will never be over until the neighbors are gone and that is a matter of time as we have other actions against them to reveal the criminal activities they have been doing all these years. The intent is to run us out of money so their attornies can defeat us in court as judges don't listen to anyone but their attorneys. I will post again soon with an update..keep up the fight.. |

| I would like to clarify one other point. Our land here was patented, this did not mean a public access or right of way, it just meant that the government gave up all rights and claims to the land ie rs2477. People are trying to interpret this differently but it means just this..the governent gives up any and all claims against the property. Thus in our case the BLM had to drop the rs2477 as well as the county commision. Then we find out this is an illegal subdivision so the war heats up. |

| I think that their strategy is to try to wear down rural people because most of us don't have that much money and the government has endless money from the taxpayers. Even though they don't have any legal basis under R.S. 2477, the government can bankrupt traditional owners and push us off the land. The good news is that victories like your case and the Barking Dog Trail case can give rural landowners and traditional ranchers the confidence to fight back and keep their property. The best thing to do is to try to get Congress to pass a law to to make it more difficult for the government to use R.S. 2477 to steal private property this way. |

| I want you guys to understand this. I am a totally disabled person, and when the people discovered the rs2477 was defeated the attacks became personal. The local law enforcement became involved and ended up charging us as they sided with the trespassers. We are in district court now for prescriptive easements and anything else they can think (even cutting weeds and invasive species on my property) of as we have three parties suing us. You may also want to look at title insurance to pay attorney costs as I am disabled I have very limited funds. defeating rs2477 doesn't stop the wars. I am filing civil rights violations and other criminal charges against the local authorities and the neighbors. I found them under the US department of Justice in the Civil Rights Division and you don't have to be a person of color to file these. These are violations of your civil rights guaranteed by the constitution. The goal is to harrass and "drive you out." The more of us that get together and get these tatics exposed to the world the better we will be. Contact your senators (I have a case pending with him) and look at other things what they are doing to hit back, ie here they claimed a homeowners association (not it is illegal) and I also found out they are charging for road maintenance on a BLM road (also illegal) Blm running from that one. So look at everything you can. Old maps, ariel photos (free on the internet at Terra server). Their goal is to break you down mentally and ohysically which is a violation of your civil rights. I will get the link up for you at a later time to file with the Department of Justice. |

What we all need to do is use the system to help us, when the people are defending themselves they will stop, then the BLM and USFS will just spend the money and make a road or in my case the road will cost 3 million dollars and at this point I will seel them my place for just 1 million... |

| One other note the stragedy of the BLM and USFS is to let the people wear you don't by turning thier heads and let them do all the work instead of doing anything to help, let them drive you out.. |

| The thing about law enforcement siding with the trespassers has a familiar ring to it. I remember that in the Barking Dog Trail case, the sheriff at first looked the other way. It turned out that the sheriff was a biker who sympathized with the trespassers. He didn't get re-elected and when the new guy got the facts he sided with the law which is where it stands now. Just make sure that the sheiff has all the facts. What county are you it? Sometimes the sheriff's in small counties are totally crooked or will just side with their buddies or with the powerful people who got them elected. |

I followed that link and it gives me an idea. Why don't you get ordained as a preacher (you can do this on the web and it is just as legitimate as most of the TV preachers and such) and start a church and build it on the spot where the trespassers are going. I mean, they wouldn't destroy a church would they? Even better, if you are an envirnmentalist you could just say that the trees on your property are your church. The off-roaders and other anti-environmentists are always saying environmentalism is a religion, so you would have their backing and get a tax break to boot. Sounds pretty sweet to me.
