| I noticed that Vernon Brandt has quietly taken down his ecoterrorist website. I think this is the closest to an admission of defeat that we will get from VB.
Go to www.aboutpubliclands.com, which used to have VB's anti-landowner, socialist propaganda and pictures of the vandals, tree-killers, taggers, and trespassers. The content disappeared shortly after Dark Cloud announced the summary judgment declaring that Barking Dog Trail is inviolable private land.
Interestingly, not a single one of VB's claims about BDT being a public road was presented as evidence to the court. Not a single offroader came forward to testify to any adverse use before the 1999 Mile-Hi Jeep Club oil spill. Not a single historian could be found to testify that the trail was old enough to be an RS 2477 road. Not a single landowner in the area joined Ramey's side. The evidence wasn't just thin, it was non-existent.
Even Ramey's former business partner chose not to become a co-plaintiff, and chose instead to be a co-defendant! It was Ramey against all his neighbors, Ramey against the county, and Ramey against United States government. When a would-be land grabber choses to sue the rest of the world to get somebody else's land for nothing, with no evidence, and no real allies, he's probably going to lose.
Amusingly, not a single dollar donated by Colorado4x4.org members was spent on the case. Somebody apparently spent the donors' money on something else!
I'm also told that there is now a gag order on VB. He is no longer even allowed to talk about Barking Dog Trail on Colorado4x4.org.
